  • Wadhwani Foundation, CPSU shake hands for partnership; Foundation University benchmarks for academic, administrative best practices at CPSU

The second week of July 2025 was filled with exciting beginnings for Central Philippines State University (CPSU) after signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Wadhwani Operating Foundation and welcoming the Foundation University.

On behalf of Mr. Meetul Patel, the President/Chief-Executive-Officer of the Wadhwani Foundation, Mr. Lucrecio Delgado Jr., Southeast Asia Regional Director, represented the foundation.

On the other hand, on behalf of Dr. Aladino C. Moraca, University President; Engr. Marc Alexei Caesar B. Badajos, Vice President for Administration and Finance; and Dr. Grenny I. Jungco, Vice President for Academic Affairs, represented the university in the ceremony held last July 7.

Through the signed MOU, CPSU’s teachers will be trained by the Wadhwani Foundation, sharing its developed world-class curricula, content, and methodology for entrepreneurship development to build and enhance the entrepreneurship ecosystem in the region, which will be cascaded by the trained teachers to students to bolster their employability after graduation or broaden their perspective in pursuing entrepreneurial stints.

“When we get into agribusiness research or hotel and tourism research, for instance, we have to bear in mind that we are not only contributing towards the repository of knowledge but are looking at it in a way to make our research become viable businesses that would eventually earn income and will have an impact on the lives of individuals,” said Mr. Delgado.

Meanwhile, Foundation University’s (FU) key officials touched down at CPSU-Main Campus for a benchmarking tour and forum to inquire about the latter’s internationalization campaign and extension services best practices.

Dr. Joe-an Mae G. Escober, the International Affairs and Linkages Office Director, and Dr. Jimmy O. Degillo, Extension and Community Services Director, welcomed the visiting team led by Dr. Charlotte V. Cariño, FU University Chancellor.

The FU delegation was introduced to Cenphilian history in the CPSU Cultural and Heritage Center by CPSU Museum Director Dr. Jose Gay D. Gallego, and was immersed in the day-to-day Cenphilian income-generation projects and programs during the Main Campus tour on July 8.

The CPSU team expounded on how these projects were created with zero waste in mind, integrating waste products as materials for other projects or by using byproducts as alternatives for the university’s operational needs as cheaper and more viable options.

An open-forum benchmarking was the highlight in the afternoon, where visiting FU officials inquired about various academic, administrative, extension, and internationalization matters, which were addressed by attending CPSU counterparts from the academic and administrative branches.

“On behalf of our university president, we express gratitude to CPSU. Thank you so much for accommodating us and approving our intention to visit the university to learn about your best practices. This is the start of a meaningful relationship with you. We are also looking forward to a collaborative engagement, not just in internationalization, but also with research and development and faculty exchange,” said Dr. Cariño.

The university continues to work on enhancing its resources and manpower to better serve its clientele and endeavors to relay its own approaches to foster the growth in the region in the service of the nation.
