  • Women’s rights, new professionals recognized at March convocation

Women’s rights and newly licensed professionals were highlighted and recognized during the Central Philippines State University-Main Campus’ (CPSU) March Convocation, held on March 24, 2025, at the covered court.

The monthly convocation hosted by the College of Teacher Education (COTED) headed by COTED Dean, Dr. Merfe C. Hucalinas, featured the theme, “Babae sa Lahat ng Sektor, Aangat ang Bukas sa Bagong Pilipinas,” which emphasized women empowerment through the talk of the event resource speaker, Atty. Charisse A. Tomaro.

Atty. Tomaro tackled the rationale behind the National Women’s Month celebration, labor statistics in different age groups, including the challenges in women’s labor force participation, empowered female figures in the Philippine society and introduced gender-related laws.

The Gender and Development Office (GAD) Director, Dr. Shirley A. Calugcugan, expressed, “Our theme reminds us that women are vital contributors to every aspect of our society, and their empowerment is crucial to our progress. We remember the struggles and trials of women who came before us, paving the way for the progress we see today. Together, let us continue to stand and overcome the challenges that women face, such as discrimination and lack of opportunities.”

Review for Licensure Examination Office (RLE) Director Dr. Marjon C. Malacapay led the recognition of the newly licensed Cenphilian mechanical engineers and criminologists from the February 2025 Mechanical Engineer Licensure Examination (MELE) and Licensure Examination for Criminologists (LEC).

Dr. Malacapay also commended the deans, professors, and instructors from the College of Engineering (COE) and the Colleges of Criminal Justice Education (CCJEs) from CPSU Main, Hinigaran, and Victorias Campuses for molding the licensed professionals—garnering a MELE institutional passing rate of 80.00% and a LEC institutional passing rate of 71.32%.

Vice President for Administration and Finance, Engr. Marc Alexei Caesar B. Badajos, Vice President for Academic Affairs (VPAA) Officer-in-Charge Dr. Grenny I. Jungco; university key officials present; and the community celebrated exceeding the national passing percentages of 48.89% for MELE and 60.50% for LEC.

The traditional opening salvo and the recitation of patriotic and civil servants’ oaths were consistently observed during the event.
