  • Pins received by 66 internship candidates at 2nd BSHM Pinning Ceremony

66 Bachelor of Science in Hospitality Management (BSHM) internship candidates officially received their pins at the 2nd BSHM Pinning Ceremony held today, January 15 at the Mt. Ballo Hall.

With the theme “Celebrating Excellence: Igniting Passion for Hospitality,” the event was facilitated by the Central Philippines State University’s (CPSU) College of Hospitality Management (CHM) to commend and encourage its on-the-job trainees for Academic Year 2024-2025.

Candidates who will be undergoing their on-the-job training were accompanied by their parents, who witnessed the ceremonial pinning event, which signifies a milestone in the students’ academic journey.

“We meet different types of people every day. There will be kind and understanding guests and difficult and irate ones. As a hotelier, you should be adept at managing your feelings, like being able to smile despite the feeling of crying when scolded by a guest because it’s a part of the job. Sometimes, it’s frustrating when a guest complains, but, as a person in the hospitality industry, we have to listen to them, empathize with them, think of solutions to address problems, and always go the extra mile and create a warm moment that will help in improving our services and excel in the field,” said SEDA Hotel’s Housekeeping Supervisor, Ms. Lynda Mae Q. Celis, CGSP, in her inspirational message.

“As you start your on-the-job training, always do it with passion, perseverance, and integrity—always do the right thing. Give your best in all that you do and remember the purpose of why you are doing it. I hope you’ll take note of all the learnings that you will be gaining from your OJT so you’ll have something to remember as you enter the corporate world, and that will lead to where you're meant to be,” Miss Celis added.

Succeeding the pinning ceremony, BSHM students: Rev L. Valenzuela, Regine D. Maigue, Pastor Lovell L. Clavel, and Joven O. Ledesma respectively delivered the Interns’ Oath, Words of Appreciation, Gratitude to the Parents, and Gratitude to the instructors and staff.

“This ceremony is a preparation for your entry to the world of work. Whatever training that you have received from the College of Hospitality Management, you should uphold and value it. Always bring the culture of being a Cenphilian,” said Vice President for Academic Affairs, Dr. Fernando D. Abello.

The event ended with a congratulatory message by CHM Dean, Ma’am Sheila A. Ignacio to recognize the diligence and hard work of the interns to reach the said milestone and to acknowledge the faculty and staff of the college who are continuously contributing to enriching students’ learning experiences in the university.

As one of the highlights of the BSHM program curriculum, interns will be deployed to different hospitality management establishments where they will be immersed in genuine work environments to gain first-hand experiences and authentic learning experiences.
