  • CPSU subjects 9 programs under AACCUP accreditation

Nine undergraduate programs of Central Philippines State University (CPSU) successfully underwent the Level I and II Survey Visit of the Accrediting Agency of Chartered Colleges and Universities in the Philippines (AACCUP).

Dr. Edgardo M. Santos of Bulacan State University and Dr. Marlon R. Pereña of Cavite State University, overall coordinators, led the AACCUP accreditation team who conducted the accreditation via video teleconferencing last October 21-25.

Hinoba-an Campus’ Bachelor of Elementary Education (BEED) and Hinigaran Campus’ Bachelor of Science in Information Technology (BSIT) programs were subjected to the Level II survey and the revisitation of Areas VI and VII, while Hinigaran Campus’ BEED program and Bachelor of Science in Hospitality Management (BSHM) underwent Level II survey with the revisitation of Area VII.

On the other hand, the Main Campus’ Bachelor of Early Childhood Education (BECED), Bachelor of Physical Education (BPED), and the Bachelor of Secondary Education (BSED) major in English, Sipalay Campus’ BSHM, and Hinigaran Campus’ BSED major in Mathematics programs underwent Level I survey visits.

“As the president, I want to express my commitment to firstly having 10 to 15 faculty to have advanced studies in a reputable academic institution specializing in management to enhance the technical and managerial capabilities of our faculty and to ensure that we will have a new and second line of leaders to serve and lead the institution for the next decade and so. Secondly, we have an amount of P3 million that we are allocating for the ongoing procurement process of books and the development of book holdings for our libraries. Thirdly, we will continue to submit the requirements, emphasizing the submission of genuine documents and shunning inauthenticity. Lastly, instruction, production, research, and extension work should be in action, as I am always highlighting that the heart of our faculty should be attached to our fourfold function and internationalization,” said CPSU President, Dr. Aladino C. Moraca in his statement of commitment.

To pursue the success of the academic exercise, the Vice President for Academic Affairs - Dr. Fernando D. Abello, campus administrators, college deans, professors, program heads, and the local task forces worked to cover ten (10) accreditation areas and present the university’s current practices and features under the keen scrutiny of AACCUP experts from various Philippine state universities.

“Despite the challenges posed by the tropical cyclone Kristine, your administration’s resilience ensured the successful completion of this important academic exercise. Your unwavering dedication to upholding the highest academic standards of excellence is commendable and reflects CPSU’s pursuit of continuous improvement. We also would like to extend recognition to the quality assurance unit led by Dr. Grenny I. Jungco for the seamless facilitation of the accreditation activities,” said Dr. Santos in his general impressions.

The accreditation ended in an exit conference on the morning of October 15 where Dr. Santos and Dr. Pereña imparted the AACCUP team’s consolidated general impressions for the undergraduate programs subjected under the accreditation—the final results are still anticipated to be revealed in a few months.
