𝗖𝗣𝗦𝗨 𝗮𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗱𝘀 𝟳𝟴 𝗟𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗻 𝗱𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀, 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝗴. 𝗟𝗮𝗻𝗶 𝗠𝗲𝗿𝗰𝗮𝗱𝗼 𝗱𝗲𝗹𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗺𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝘀𝗽𝗲𝗲𝗰𝗵

KABANKALAN CITY, August 5, 2024—78 Latin Honor Awardees from Central Philippines State University - Main Campus were conferred with their respective awards in recognition of their exemplary academic performance during the university’s 74th Commencement Exercises at KCenter.

Province of Cavite, 2nd Legislative District Congresswoman, Hon. Lani Mercado-Revilla graced the event with her presence and relayed her and her husband, Senator Ramon “Bong” Revilla Jr.’s, felicitations for the graduates of the campus, exclaiming, “Before coming here, I asked Senator Bong on what advice will he give to you who’ll be graduating today. Napaka-simple lang ng sinabi niya, 'Walang imposible kung magpupunyagi at hindi susuko sa ano mang hampas ng alon ng buhay.’ Simple but impactful. Remember that there will be many struggles and challenges to go your way but you must remain strong and courageous. Huwag kayong panghihinaan ng loob sa anumang taas ng talampas bagkus gamitin ninyong tuntungan ang inyong mga karanasan.”

Among the graduates of the batch 2024, two Summa Cum Laude, fifty-nine Magna Cum Laude, seventeen Cum Laude, and two Special awardees received their medals as awarded by Negros Occidental Sixth District Representative Hon. Mercedes “Cheding” Alvarez, Kabankalan City Mayor Hon. Benjie M. Miranda, SUC President II Dr. Aladino C. Moraca, with Board of Regents members, Faculty Regent Hon. Demer G. Paglomutan, and Board of Regents Private Sector Representative Hon. Maria Antoinette Theodora Feria Colmenares.

Christine Joy D. Tubio, Summa Cum Laude from the Bachelor of Secondary Education major in English, delivered the Commencement Address as class valedictorian, “My fellow graduates of batch 2024, we are here today with spirits held high because we emerged stronger than our Hades and endured in holding on to that dream…There is no stopping now! Our hard work has paid off! We made it!”

Hon. Alvarez, who was also awarded with a plaque in recognition of her authorship of House Bill 10042 for the conversion of CPSU’s campuses to regular campuses, also announced that her congressional office will be providing financial assistance to those who will be taking the Professional Regulations Commission Board Examinations.

Graduates wearing academic robes accented blue, gray, maroon, orange, violet, yellow, and yellow green marched and claimed their diplomas that testifies to the successful and fruitful end of their collegiate journey.

The ceremony ended with the graduates dancing to the lyrics, “Dahan dahan lang, buhay ay di karera” from Bini’s Karera, a meaningful mantra for the next chapter of their lives, and their first community singing of the CPSU Hymn as part of the university's alumni association.
