Out of 1,183 participating universities worldwide, CPSU takes pride in securing the 807th spot in the recently announced result of the UI Green Metric World University Rankings. Said results were unveiled 7:00 PM, December 5, 2023.
As its first-time quest in this ranking, CPSU hoists its flag of triumph in being among the 22 PH universities that have successfully made it to the list.
The UI Green Metric is a ranking on green campus and environmental sustainability initiated by Universitas Indonesia in 2010. Through 39 indicators in 6 criteria, it prudently determined the rankings by universitiesโ environmental commitment and initiatives. Specifically, it collects numeric data from universities and processes the data provided into a single score that reflects the efforts being made by the institution to implement environmentally friendly and sustainable programs.
Dr. Aladino Moraca, CPSU president, states that this ranking reaffirms CPSUโs persistent efforts in engaging with the community and its stakeholders to combat climate change and impose measures for environmental protection.
โIt has been the long-term banner project of CPSU to promote forest and environment preservation in rural communities for sustainable energy, water conservation, and agricultural innovation. These efforts of the University in partnership with LGUs and other local and private agencies have provided economic and environmental benefits that address social issues related to sustainability,โ Dr. Moraca said.
Among the Philippine universities that also made it in the global rankings are as follows: De La Salle University - Dasmarinas; Mariano Marcos State University; Batangas State University, The National Engineering University; De La Salle University Manila; University of Northern Philippines; Samar State University; Tarlac Agricultural University; Catanduanes State University; Bukidnon State University; and West Visayas State University, among others.
