Loud cheers, screams of victory, and even sighs “next times” filled the sportsfield as it held its week-long Intramural Meet at the Main Campus grounds last October 2-6, 2023 with the theme: “Celebrating diversity, synergy and excellence”.
As Central Philippines State University celebrated its 77th Foundation Anniversary, various extension campuses along with the Colleges in the Main campus gathered together to participate in the said celebration.
Commencing the 77th Foundation Anniversary Celebration was a Special Program held at the Clemente Sports Complex with the University personnel and delegates as attendees. It was likewise attended by esteemed guests from the LGUs and partner agencies of Kabankalan City, Himamaylan City, Sipalay City, and the BOR members. The event was especially graced by the invited speaker, Hon. Cong. Dino Yulo of the 5th District of Negros Occidental.
On the second day, the opening ceremony was a spectacle, complete with a parade showcasing the delegations of the participating colleges and campuses. The camaraderie was palpable as everyone cheered for each other, united despite diversity. Also gracing this event was Hon.SP Roger Regalia of the City of Kabankalan.
After the formal opening of the Intramural Meet by Dr. Fernando Abello, VP for Academic Affairs, it was followed by the ceremonial hoisting of unit banners to signal the competitive spirit and sportsmanship.
Continuing through the week, each day was filled with more engaging activities and events. As the sports and athletics events started, the Volleyball and Basketball sports became the center of attention in the Sportsfield, with students from the various extension campuses showing their support through cheers. There was also the Quiz Bee, Visual Arts competition and Students Economic Enterprise Expo for all to enjoy and witness.
This event was a reminder that CPSU is not merely a place for academics but also a platform for nurturing teamwork, creativity, physical prowess, discipline and self-expression. These were captured in every click and flash of the cameras of field documenters as their lenses zoomed in to capture picture-perfect shots.
Friendship and camaraderie had also blossomed during the celebration. These photographs became cherished memories, preserving the essence of 'The Week that United Them.' On Thursday night, a Rave Party lit up the university gymnasium sponsored by the SSG. Students from came together came together and moved to the beat of the the music, lights, and pulsating drums creating a captivating atmosphere for everyone.
As the week concluded, it showed that University Week was more than just a series of events. It was a celebration of unity in diversity, a testament to Cenphilian’s shared values and spirit. The University Week stands as a testament to the vibrant and diverse community that thrives on campus. It's not only a time for students to showcase their talents, and engage in healthy competition, but also to create lasting college memories.
